Sometimes people ask us to help them discover why they came into this world. When they do, we often see how many misunderstandings and false beliefs surround this topic. They want us to reveal what special mission they were sent to fulfill. But the answer is surprisingly simple—and, in fact, the same for every human being.
The purpose of your existence is to resolve your attitudes and emotions toward people, places, objects, and situations. We came here to start something, to finish something, to cleanse, to let go, to bring harmony. We embody something that is connected to people, places, and matters from the past, present, or even the future. All of it is closely tied to your understanding of God.
Before I go any further, let me remind you: as souls, we came here to learn—through firsthand experience—what it means to be. To be, for example, foolish, envious, naïve, heroic, a victim, a coward, strong, arrogant, lazy, furious, and so on. In other words, we came to understand each quality, to taste both its light and shadow, and to fully feel the consequences of living through it.
One soul, incarnated as a human, might experience just one of these qualities deeply. That’s often enough to realize how difficult it is to live without love—and that soul may return to God almost immediately. Other souls take on many traits at once. The weight can be crushing. And yet, they persist in exploring and understanding them.
Every person on Earth is experiencing a different aspect, or a unique combination of aspects. We become so caught up in these experiences that we forget Who We Truly Are. We forget our divine origin.
That’s why our ultimate purpose on Earth is to remember Who We Truly Are in Essence, and to stop identifying with who we merely appear to be. We are not the experiences we came here to have. We are not our thoughts, emotions, actions, or even our bodies—though we live within them.
So, who are we? We are consciousness, a divine spark, a fragment of God that lives deep within us. And discovering that truth inside ourselves is our most sacred task. No matter how wise, no priest, therapist, doctor, parent, friend, or guru can do it for us. No one can walk our path for us.
Once we finally know who we are at our core, we naturally desire to return to God. But that doesn’t mean dying or leaving Earth. It means living—right here, right now—with God, in God, and through God, consciously. When we begin to live from that awareness, we’ll discover that we are always connected to Him, and that life without Him becomes unbearable.
Deep within, we’ve never truly forgotten. All of us—without exception—know that God is everywhere, all-embracing, all-pervading. There is no place where He is not. But for some reason—perhaps fear, laziness, or convenience—we allowed ourselves to believe the childish story that God is sitting somewhere on a cloud, watching us from above. That belief is not only outdated—it’s false. It assumes that God is separate from what He created.
It’s like standing on a highway with your eyes shut, while cars race past at full speed. You tell yourself they don’t exist because you can’t see them. Why? Because someone “smart” told you they weren’t real. But believing in that illusion doesn’t protect you. It only puts you in danger.
You belong to God, whether you’re aware of it or not. You are dependent on Him. You can pretend otherwise, but it won’t change reality. Just like the person standing blindly on the highway, you’ll be at constant risk of unexpected collisions. The moment you understand this, you’ll open your eyes—just as anyone on a highway should—and stop crashing into the same obstacles over and over again. You’ll start to see how to shape your destiny consciously.
If you’ve ever driven a car, you know one thing: to reach your destination, you need to know where you’re going and keep your hands firmly on the wheel. Otherwise, you’ll get lost, crash, or end up somewhere you never intended to be. Yet many people do the opposite. They rush through life with their eyes closed, no sense of direction, and worse—they hand the steering wheel to someone else because it feels easier. And later, they blame God for the fact that they’ve gone astray or crashed into something they never wanted. But life’s collisions aren’t punishments. They’re signs. They’re trying to wake you up.
