When we look at the world around us, we can see one universal principle—everything is constantly developing and evolving. From microscopic organisms to vast galaxies, from the simplest forms of life to complex ecosystems—every element of reality takes part in the great process of transformation and refinement.
Human beings are no exception to this rule. We are an inseparable part of this cosmic dance of growth, participating on many levels at once. Our bodies renew themselves continually: cells die and new ones are born, while the organism adapts to ever-changing conditions. Yet this is only the most obvious aspect of our evolution.
Alongside physical change, our consciousness also evolves. Our abilities expand—from simple motor skills in childhood, through acquiring knowledge and competence, to the development of ever more refined talents and capacities. Our character too is in constant transformation—childish egocentrism gradually gives way to empathy, understanding, and life wisdom.
The quality of our thoughts undergoes a fascinating change. At first chaotic and superficial, with time they become more structured, deeper, and more creative. We learn to think abstractly, to analyze complex problems, and to develop intuition and insight into the essence of things.
The same applies to our emotions. Primitive reactions based on fear or anger slowly yield to more subtle feelings—compassion, unconditional love, joy that arises from the growth of others. Emotional intelligence develops, allowing us to understand ourselves and others with greater clarity.
This multilayered development is neither accidental nor chaotic. A profound logic and purpose runs through it—every experience, every step forward serves our inner refinement. Difficulties and challenges are a natural part of the process, just as exercise is necessary for strengthening muscles.
Understanding this universal principle of evolution can completely change our perspective on life. Instead of seeing ourselves as static beings, we can recognize that we are always in the process of becoming—better, wiser, and more conscious.
The awareness of our own development becomes a source of deep motivation and calm. We begin to see that every day offers the possibility of growth, and every experience has meaning within the greater plan of our evolution. We are not isolated individuals, but participants in the great transformation of the entire universe.
It is also important to understand that our growth does not occur in isolation. We are connected by invisible threads to other people, to nature, and to the whole cosmos. Our thoughts and emotions affect our surroundings, and the energy of others influences us. When one person rises spiritually, they help lift all of humanity to a higher level of consciousness.
This process of growth has its own rhythm and natural stages. Sometimes we experience rapid progress, while at other times it may feel as though we stand still, or even move backwards. This is normal—just as the seasons change, so too does our evolution, with periods of intense growth and moments of consolidation. Patience with ourselves becomes an essential virtue.
Problems sometimes arise because, as we evolve, we become increasingly aware of our connection with everything around us. A stronger desire—sometimes even an inner necessity—to pursue inner growth appears within us. This is natural, as long as the impulse remains calm, gentle, and accompanied by the recognition that it must indeed be fulfilled.
Unfortunately, since we live in a world filled with powerful and often negative emotions, we may sometimes fall into various obsessions—even regarding spiritual development. We begin to wonder endlessly whether what we are doing is enough, or whether we should be doing more.
At some point this striving can turn into fear. Where there is pressure on our part to achieve something, there arises the anxiety that we may fail. As fear grows, we attract spirits of the deceased who, during their lifetimes, set themselves immense spiritual goals—often beyond their strength—and did not accomplish them. This is made easier today because our vibrations are rising, and the distance between the world of the dead and the physical world grows ever smaller.
Because evolution is the foundation of life—human and otherwise—such fears can grow to such dimensions that, after death of the physical body, spirits cannot leave the material realm. They are then drawn into the field of fear marked by the conviction: “I will never achieve my spiritual goals.”
Though these spirits once strove only for spirituality, they become chained to this negative field, which lies very close to material reality. They are then pulled toward living people whose fear of failure is already strong. To the human’s fear is added the far greater fear of the spirit.
This creates great suffering for the living, which can only truly be resolved through the spirit removal process and the transformation of thought patterns. Yet here is a word of comfort: in nature everything requires its time. The flower must mature before it can bloom. The chick must develop in the egg before breaking the shell. The butterfly must pass through the chrysalis before spreading its wings.
The same applies to people. Excessive zeal can be very harmful. We should protect ourselves from such tendencies by carefully watching over our thoughts and emotions. And above all, we must remember that true growth unfolds in its own time, and it is perfectly okay to allow ourselves the patience to grow at a natural pace.
