Embarking on the journey of spiritual growth has become a choice for an increasing number of individuals. In this article, we will discuss how spirit possession impacts our spiritual growth. Exploring the intricacies of this relationship allows us to gain deeper insights into the challenges and opportunities that arise on the path to spiritual enlightenment. It further prompts contemplation on the methods to safeguard and enhance our spiritual journey amidst potential influences.
A human being consists of several dimensions. The first is the physical body, the second the emotional or astral body, the third the body of our thoughts or mental body, and the fourth the causal body. The fourth can be attributed to the spirituality of a person, while the first three serve as the abode of personality.
Working on our own spirituality becomes feasible only when we have to some extent mastered the control over the three lower bodies. Currently, humanity's most significant deficit lies in the awareness of the emotional body. Emotions guide us incessantly, yet often without understanding the underlying causes nested in the deeper layers of our subconscious, the reservoir of our emotions.
For most people, childhood sets the stage for emotional patterns that define our earthly journey. These patterns are not arbitrary; they mirror our emotional and mental tendencies carried from previous incarnations. This implies that in a given earthly life, we become what we have allowed to reside in our emotions and thoughts. This amalgamation includes both favorable and unfavorable tendencies. The unfavorable ones manifest as negative programs, leading to various forms of destruction and suffering, while the favorable ones manifest as creativity, and goodness.
The majority of people do not consciously analyze the contents of their subconscious, leading them to navigate life on autopilot. Programs embedded in our distant past are automatically replayed. Many incarnations pass in this manner, offering the opportunity to learn the truths of life and the Universal Principles governing the cosmos. One such crucial principle is the law of consequence, wherein we reap what we have previously given attention to, or in other words, we gather the kind of energy we have emitted from our thought-emotional system.
For instance, if we succumb to pervasive fear or anger, these emotions will return to us in increasing quantities. The energy we projected outward (emotions and thoughts) unfailingly gathers similar elements during its journey through energetic levels. An angry person will, therefore, become increasingly angrier, a loving person more loving, and so forth.
Thus, we surround ourselves with various emotional energies that intensify over time. If negative energy predominates within us, we begin to attract not only the negative energy of the astral/emotional world but also spirits emanating such negativity. This marks a crucial moment in our evolution, as the spirits of the departed, mentioned here, start projecting very potent energies from the emotional/astral world onto us. These energies are often much stronger than the negative energy accumulated by an individual throughout their entire life.
Meanwhile, an individual attracting a significant amount of negative energy finds themselves enveloped in growing destructive forces, and their life starts resembling a hellish existence. In this way, more and more suffering enters their life. For some, the suffering becomes so intense that they cannot endure it and start seeking help. This creates a strong motivation for some to break free from the prison of negative emotions.
Some individuals turn to psychotherapists or psychiatrists, only to realize soon that these professionals have nothing to offer. They fail to comprehend the depth of the emotional and mental suffering, not recognizing that the issue lies with the spirits of the deceased, emanating a very strong dose of negative, destructive, and painful energy onto the haunted individual.
At this point, they embark on further searches, leading them to books on spiritual development or individuals specializing in this field. However, many of these books are not written from a high spiritual perspective but from an astral one, which is more easily accessible to human vibration/consciousness. Consequently, the astral realm is filled with souls that, incarnation after incarnation, have developed spiritually, often in the wrong direction or without a full understanding of the principles of the Universe.
We find ourselves in a situation where an individual aspiring for spiritual growth attracts souls with the same aspiration, but who have previously strayed. These are not souls driven by the lowest motives. Still, occasionally, we encounter a soul that, "for the good of the world," would happily eradicate a portion of the human population, prejudiced by the notion that it "pollutes" the human race. More often, though, we deal with spirits that, while not as intense in negative emanation, misguide people in the wrong direction. A guide who has lost their way can only lead astray.
Meanwhile, an individual drawing such a spirit to themselves is fascinated by the abundance of information regarding (misunderstood) spiritual development flowing from the spirit. This strengthens the bond between spirit and human, often leading to a very close dependency. For the individual, it means receiving the entire emotional baggage of the spirit and losing most of their life energy.
True spiritual growth cannot occur with the involvement of any spirits, including those claiming to be "saviors of the world" with a helper syndrome. Some more advanced souls may misinterpret and adopt the notion of self-sacrifice for humanity, guided solely by the compulsion to help others. This is, of course, another misunderstanding. Compulsion is always a destructive principle.
Only when we reach true spiritual levels - the higher mental or causal body - do we begin to see more clearly the unity of our own soul with other souls. It is then that genuine compassion arises within us, stemming from an increasing love for other people, seeing them as our beloved sisters and brothers. Their suffering starts to affect us. Our motivation to help is entirely different from compulsion, often driven by fear, and comes solely from love. Observing our well-being originating from a life lived in love, we desire to share ourselves with others.
