In today's article, we'll discuss the concept of karma. There is much talk about karma, especially in spiritual communities, but it seems that not everyone fully understands how karma really works. Understanding karma can help us navigate our lives with greater awareness and intention.
First and foremost, you need to realize that karma is not only created by actions. Our thoughts, emotions, and intentions also shape our karma. So, if you feel anger towards someone or wish them harm, even if you take no physical action, you are still generating so-called "negative" karma that will eventually return to you. Since karma is shaped not only by our actions but also by our thoughts and feelings, it means we are constantly creating karma—because we are always thinking and feeling. Knowing this, we should always be mindful of our thoughts, emotions, and intentions, as whatever we send out into the world will inevitably come back to us. Karma does not selectively decide which of our good deeds will return to us and which won't; everything we put out, good or bad, eventually comes back.
Often, karma plays out over an extended period. The universe knows that humans are continually evolving and need time—often many incarnations—to grow and become more aligned with love, more divine. Early in one's earthly journey, a person was primitive and less evolved, making numerous mistakes. Such a person would accumulate more negative karma than positive, and thus, spreading that negative karma over time was the best approach. Otherwise, the weight of accumulated negative karma might have crushed the individual, and that's not what the Universe intends. The Universe, constantly supports us, always offering the best possible opportunities for growth. No one can erase your karma, but there are Angels and Masters who determine when your karma will return to you. This will happen at the most appropriate time for you to work through it.
The karma returning to you may come from this life or from your past lives. This phenomenon also explains why some people are born with exceptional talents in certain areas—those we call geniuses. They have worked on those skills over many lifetimes, often with great effort. Now, those abilities are returning to them. Instead of envying such people, thinking they received their talents "for free," take inspiration from them and courageously and persistently develop your skills.
If you have caused someone minor harm, it will come back to you, though it may not necessarily be "paid back" by the same person you wronged. In such cases, other people may repay that karmic debt to you. However, if you have inflicted a significant harm, one that drastically changed the direction of someone's life, then you will have to personally compensate that person. This also includes significant good deeds. For example, a father who abused his child throughout their life will, in this life or the next, have to make amends to that child's soul, which may incarnate as his spouse, sibling, or parent in the future.
When unpleasant events happen to us, we should ask ourselves how we attracted such experiences into our lives. As I mentioned earlier, we must also consider not only our past actions but our thoughts, emotions, and intentions. Many people feel powerless in the face of karma. Although we cannot escape the karma that is returning to us and must bear its consequences firsthand, it's important to remember that every second, we are creating new karma. So, knowing that right now, through our actions, emotions, and thoughts, we are shaping new karma, do we truly want to experience in the future what we are thinking, feeling, and doing at this very moment? Your destiny is in your hands, and you decide right now what the future will hold. Even if the present moment isn't ideal, you always have the option to change your future.
Death does not free us from karma. Unresolved lessons will return to us in the next life. This is even more challenging because the unresolved lessons from the previous life will combine with the lessons of the current one. Unfortunately, when we keep resisting life, when we stubbornly refuse to face something within ourselves even though the Universe keeps showing us that the time has come, our lives become filled with more and more suffering.
The same applies to spirit possession. If we do not free ourselves from spirits in this life, it is highly likely that we will still have to deal with them in the next. Sometimes, we find ourselves living with someone who is possessed by spirits, causing us much suffering. Instead of immediately blaming that person for our pain, we must consider that in a past life, we might have had spirits attached and caused someone else a great deal of suffering. Thus, the only option you have is to forgive—forgive yourself and every person you meet on your path who causes you so-called "harm."
Karma is an intricate and ever-present force that influences our lives on multiple levels. By understanding karma and its mechanisms, we can make conscious choices to create a more positive future. Remember, every thought, intention, and action you take shapes your destiny, and it is never too late to make a change for the better.
