Can the Spirits of the Deceased Possess Anyone?

The Spirits of the Deceased and Their Ability to Possess

Possession by spirits, aka spirit attachment, isn't a phenomenon solely experienced by a specific age or social group. Irrespective of our social status, wealth, or level of education, anyone on our planet can experience this phenomenon, as we all possess emotions. When mismanaged, these emotions can open us up to the potential danger of spirit possession.

The Collective of Souls: The Family

Families primarily represent a collective of souls who have planned a shared incarnation, often exhibiting numerous common emotional and mental characteristics. When we depart from our previous incarnation, we traverse gradually through the emotional and mental realms. During this ascendant journey towards the so-called "Heaven" or to God, we purge ourselves of all lower emotions, motivations, intentions, and thought patterns. Various traditions refer to this purification process as purgatory, although it significantly differs from the Catholic conception of purgatory. In Catholic doctrine, purgatory serves as a transitional state or place where the souls of the deceased, yet unatoned for their "sins," undergo purification before entering heaven.

Regrettably, Catholicism presents a somewhat bleak representation of the afterlife, suggesting the existence of hell—a state of eternal separation and condemnation from God. Fortunately, this portrayal does not correspond with reality. Souls inundated with negativity will need a prolonged duration for purification during their ascendant journey, but none will be lost or forgotten in this process, nor will any suffer indefinitely. Going through the emotional realm without a physical body to shield us from the direct impact of lower, painful vibrations of the emotional world does, however, involve suffering.

Spirits and Their Connection to the Material World

Some spirits, stuck close to the material world, undergo this suffering. It is why living individuals experience profound suffering during possession by spirits; they harmonize with the suffering spirit. This suffering is then transmitted to the living.

Before our incarnation, a plan for our future life is formed. Those more spiritually developed have a say in this plan, while for many, this plan is created and imposed mandatorily. The universe, in its infinite intelligence and compassion, can meticulously plan a forthcoming incarnation allowing the soul optimal progression. We are thus born among people who mirror us, offering a chance to recognize our weaknesses in others, motivating us to change and deviate from unfavorable patterns learned during childhood.

There is a saying, “The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.” This applies strictly to families. We may condemn our parents for their behaviors and customs, but we must remember that these patterns still exist within us, and condemning them only strengthens them. It’s not really about what we inherited from them; we are the problem. We came to the world with weaknesses and later recognized them in our ancestors, siblings, etc. Families are collectives where we share identical weaknesses with other members.

Can the Spirits of the Deceased Possess Anyone?

In most cases, either the entire family is possessed by spirits, or none are. Our internal weaknesses become sources attracting spirits with the same weaknesses. For instance, the inability to balance one's emotions and impulsiveness will draw impulsive spirits who didn't overcome this issue in their earthly incarnation. Since children emulate their parents during their childhood, this also relates to possession by spirits.

I appeal to parents, who mostly harbor feelings of kindness, devotion, and love towards their children, to work on improving their lives, mainly emotionally, as the most crucial lesson you can impart to your children is the example you set daily. Harness the power of love, as a person is usually capable of doing much more for their loved ones than for themselves.
