How to Cultivate Gratitude in a Fearful World?

A great way to help yourself when experiencing spirit possession is choosing the practice of gratitude. This is the most difficult of the recommended methods given in our two most recent blog posts.

Gratitude strongly raises our vibration, and quickly moves us away from the vibrational level the spirits are on. This is because gratitude is a form of love for That Which is Higher: a love for God. Being grateful is saying to the Universe, “Thank you for being the Universe; thank you for my being me and for having this life; and for the privilege of having consciousness as a child of God.” Such love as sustained throughout focused feeling quickly draws us into higher and higher realms of refined vibration: but as mentioned this isn’t an easy method, for several reasons.

Overcoming Challenges: Generating Gratitude Amidst Negativity

The main problem is that our world is generally a place where fear reigns supreme. From fear all other negative emotions arise: anger, hatred, jealousy, envy or resentment, distrust and accusatory behaviors.

The latter are integral parts of the emotional bodies of most people. For who among us doesn’t assign responsibility for our own suffering onto other people, situations, or even God? Most of us end up blaming God, consciously or unconsciously, for the fact that either our life or the world itself is the way it is: filled with suffering and pain. However God has nothing to do with this; He neither created this suffering, nor did He design a form of punishment for man's sins.

Since God simply allows us to experience the consequences of our own choices (that often don’t comply with the laws of the Universe), the consequence of such negative choices will always be suffering. In fact, it’s only our own ways of thinking and feeling that create our circumstances, our relationships, our financial status, our health and wellness, and so on. If we’re suffering it means that our choices weren’t made while within a state of happiness.

If you find yourself in such a negatively-trending cycle or circumstance, please note that such choices already belong to the past, and can be immediately let go. The past is no longer here, and the present is our endless opportunity to change the future. If we begin choosing now to feel healthy, wealthy, and grateful in accord with the principles of the Universe, our destiny will inexorably improve - and sometimes, this happens nearly immediately.

Understandably, it can be difficult for someone to generate gratitude in a world where we’re mostly surrounded by ingratitude. It's like having to loudly object to everyone shouting at you about how unfair the world is, how we all suffer. However, an approach of gratitude for even the smallest or most basic aspects of your life - both when one experiences spirit possession, and in normal everyday life - will bring to everyone who practices this astonishing, rewarding results.

What Are the Contradictions: Gratitude vs. Influence of Spirits?

Another common struggle in generating gratitude is that spirits behave in complete contradiction to the principles of the Universe. Those that haven’t gone into the Light after their death are by definition completely turned away from God.

A possessed person under this type of influence for any period of time now retains traces of that in their consciousness. Thus via thoughts and emotions, we’ve allowed ourselves to accept and to literally incorporate the erroneous thoughts and emotions of the spirits into our own bodies and minds, because we’re already holding similar thoughts and emotions in our own subconsciousness. This unregulated tendency must be gotten rid of and completely forbid ourselves from holding negative thoughts and feelings for any duration when they arise.

How to Start a Conscious Practice: Unleashing the Power of Gratitude Lists?

How to Start a Conscious Practice

To begin a conscious and sustainable practice of gratitude, it’s worth making a list of things to be grateful for. There is always, no matter how much fear or pain one could possibly be suffering, a few things one can focus on in gratitude for God’s grace. It's worth keeping such a list constantly, and as reasons to be grateful come to mind during the day, write them down.

Once your list is ready, find the right moment to focus on its content. We can’t achieve this while we’re in our typical state of consciousness, because then we’re too easily affected and distracted by the ever-present dangers and anxieties we know affect humanity and our own emotional lives. It’s therefore imperative to consciously learn to relax, which you can optimally achieve using the counting exercise shared here. It’s valuable for everyone, and really worth doing for any number of reasons.

Harnessing the Emotions: Expanding Gratitude in Relaxation

Once in a calm and comfortable state of relaxation, look at your list and let yourself feel every emotion akin to gratitude as expansively as you can. It doesn’t even matter what you’re feeling grateful for, because the joyful quality of the feeling itself is the most important aspect of raising your vibration. You will naturally come to focus less upon the reason on your list for being grateful, and more upon the feelings of gratitude in your heart.

Whenever you wish, refresh this by reading the next item on your list and then doing the same thing, focusing on the feelings of being blessed, and on the gratitude that always arises. This exercise is worth doing very often, as frequently as you can in every single day. It wouldn't hurt to practice this more  than once a day, because it’s also an exercise in concentration, which has so many benefits that even constant practice will never be too much. Gradually and naturally you’ll learn to generate gratitude even when something negative happens, and this feeling will guide you much like a Guardian Angel, lifting you up beyond the difficulties of life.

The Journey of Gratitude: Persistence and Rewards

Remember that accomplishments of real value are never achieved instantaneously, and the same goes for mastering the practice of gratitude. Only persistent effort and attention toward strengthening your own gratitude will bring the desired result of being connected to a higher principle, and to moving toward God. This path may not be easy, but it will inevitably be worth far more than the effort you put into it, and you’ll be rewarded beyond all measure. In our next post we’ll explore even more powers of gratitude so until then, stay grateful!
