In this post, we will explore the factors from which depression stems and also how spirit possession contributes to depression. Depression is a serious disorder that impacts every facet of human functioning. It is characterized by a persistent low mood, loss of interest and pleasure in life, reduced energy leading to increased fatigue, and diminished activity. Those afflicted often experience sleep disturbances, concentration and attention problems, low self-esteem and self-worth, feelings of guilt, a pessimistic outlook towards the future, thoughts of self-harm or even suicide. Symptoms may also include changes in appetite, digestive issues, and unexplained bodily pains.
Depression can stem from various factors, among which we will discuss the presence of subtle entities—spirits of the deceased. However, the primary and most crucial factor is the psyche of the individual. It is we ourselves who cultivate depression over time, making this disorder both creeping and dangerous, as its stages are difficult to notice as time passes.
There are many mechanisms that can lead to the onset of depression, often operating within the unconscious realm (until we begin to focus consistently on our emotions). Prolonged negative thinking and excessive self-criticism can gradually lead one into a depressive state. Isolation and avoiding social contact deepen the issue. Persistent worry, dwelling on the past (especially grief and failures), and negatively comparing oneself with others also contribute to the development of depression.
Harmful behavioral patterns such as neglecting sleep, lack of physical activity, improper nutrition, and substance abuse, including alcohol and tobacco, can disrupt the brain's chemical balance. Suppressing emotions rather than expressing and processing them can also lead to depression.
Chronic stress, overwork without rest, setting unrealistic demands, and perfectionism are additional risk factors. It's crucial to not ignore the early warning signals and to take corrective action when the first symptoms appear.
A significant factor that intensifies depression is the lack of setting life goals, stemming from fears about the future and the unknown. Constantly pondering what we could achieve in life, what would bring us joy, improves our situation in this respect.
Depression pulls us downward into a spiral of diminishing well-being, pushing our mood towards increasingly negative thinking. Prolonged and persistent reduction in our vitality levels draws us into the lowest spheres of human collective emotionality, into the lowest realms of the astral/emotional world—levels of anger, fear, resentment, sadness, doubt, jealousy, envy, etc. Once we reach such a level, it becomes easy to attract deeply depressed non-material entities residing there.
Many souls that have shed their physical bodies and for various reasons (all described in the book "Possessed by Ghosts") choose not to move to higher vibrational fields, to the Light, experience intense disappointment emotions because the reality they find themselves in does not match what they imagined the afterlife to be. Some are furious, as they see how religions have misled them about this aspect; others are embittered that despite a life they considered exemplary, they now exist in suffering; and yet others are disappointed by the unending wait for the Final Judgment. All these spirits suffer from severe depression due to the fact that the world around them is not what they expected.
Moreover, the lowest fields of the emotional world are marked by exceptionally low vitality levels. It's not surprising, then, that when such spirits attach to a person of a similar vibrational level, the spirits exert a much stronger depressive influence on the person, draining their energy.
An additional negative aspect of this entire scenario is that people who suffer from depression for a while find satisfaction in attributing their inactivity, resignation from their goals, and avoidance of facing life to their depression. Here, the environment of the afflicted often plays a significant role, accepting depression as an illness independent of the person and excusing them from all responsibilities. There are many in the world who find this situation convenient, as it allows them to engage in boundless inactivity—an illusion of safety.
Coping with depression is not an easy task. Once this pattern is entrenched in our psyche, emotional memory, mental framework, nervous system, brain structure, and both the sympathetic and parasympathetic systems, it's challenging to overcome. Emotional and physical functioning transformations stem from prolonged control of our thoughts. Our thought patterns create neuronal pathways that, like paths in a forest, become more defined the more they are used.
When depression has deeply set in, a prolonged effort is needed to halt the recurrent signals from our psyche and physical body and to build strength contrary to the depressive pattern. This process is akin to learning a new language or a musical instrument—it requires systematic practice and patience, with results appearing gradually. Yet, undaunted perseverance will undoubtedly lead us to this magnificent goal, similar to mountain climbing—each step brings us closer to the summit, even if we sometimes need to pause or backtrack to find a better path.
This is also why the process of cleansing from spirits for someone deeply depressed sometimes only partially succeeds, especially if it has been initiated by their conscious loved ones. The afflicted often lack the motivation to actively reengage with life, to continually, every minute of every day, fend off the fear of living until they triumphantly return to a normal state of existence.
